Yay Portland

OK guys and gals as promised, here are some photos from my trip! :)

I *think* this is Mt. St. Helen...or maybe the pilot just lied to us. :P

Hilariously awesome carpet in the Portland International Airport...I even got the matching socks! :)

Yep, that's a gigantic fish stuck in those bricks. Southpark Seafood Restaurant. So good I went twice! Their cheese plate is soo good!

Trying on clothes in a thrift shop! Buffalo Exchange.

Totally amazeballz ramen I had the last night I was there! At Shigezo.

Some yarns I scored at Knit Purl PDX.

Hilariously cute sign in bathroom at Masu restaurant.

View from my hotel room!

Voodoo donuts!

Trying on clothes at the Bettie Page store. The girls there were SO nice! :)

Lunch at Broder near the Hawthorne neighborhood! I wanna move there! :)

Me looking derpy in my suit after presenting to like 200+ people. @___@;; stressful!

AMAZING chirashi and SUPER FRESH sea urchin (uni) sushi at Masu. Celebrated the night after my presentation with this meal, hehe.

Another shot looking out the window from my hotel room. 14th floor at the Hilton downtown Portland...

Octopus Pasta. The pasta was so tender and tasty but it was too spicy! >__<;
I even finished knitting a hat on the plane! xD

Went to an EPIC HUGE thrift shop called House of Vintage there and I REALLY wanted this cute dress but it BARELY did not zip on me. >__<;; one size too small!
Some of the items I did score on my trip. :) All vintage! Needs dry cleaned so badly. The skirt on the left is maybe from the 80s/90s and it's dry clean only. Bah. The dress on the right is 100% wool made in Italy vintage from the 60s! I am soaking it in Eucalan which I HIGHLY recommend to anyone who wants to wash 100% wool, 100% alpaca, and other such fibers!

More little treasures I found thrifting!

Delicious pasta!

An outfit I bought from the thrift shops. Most of it is vintage.

Cute "N" size batteries I purchased at Spartacus...I can use them in my vibrators ;P

Pretty vintage dress I bought but when I washed it the dyes bled. >___<;;
Brunch my friend had at Broder. Swedish style lunch and breakfast. :)

Found this at the thrift shop but I did not buy it...I just took a photo cause I loved the art-work. :)

Myself and my good friend Maria who drove ALL the way from Seattle, WA to be with me in Portland, OR for the weekend! We went to college together and worked on the Cube Satellite project together called COPPER which launched last year and is up in orbit now! :)

THE END!

Hope you all enjoyed my little travel picspam! :) Portland is a beautiful city, people there are so nice, lots of great food + shopping, and I WANT TO MOVE THERE! But it's so expensive. >__<;;

Monthly Post - Justice & Shopping in the Children's Section

Work is just so busy. It's really hard to maintain this friggin' blog when all I want to do after I get home from work is just crash. And drink beer. And yeah, not do anything in particular. I do get out on the weekends every now and again, though. This weekend I went shopping, and last weekend my parents drove all the way from Pittsburgh (with my sister and the dog as well) to visit me. Crazy! I can't stand road trips. So yeah. F that noise. But anyway...this weekend, it looks like my boyfriend's parents are driving all the way from Colorado to visit us. Last year, they came around Labor Day and his dad wired our house for us...so nice of him. I hope he lets me buy him something nicer than beer this time around, hehe. At any rate...

So yes, the title of the post...well, addressing the second half now that I've addressed the first... I realllly love shopping in the children's section. I mean, who wouldn't, especially if you love cute prints and designs, pastel colors, bright colors, stuff that you generally do not see in the 'adults' or even 'juniors' clothing sections. I used to get a lot of my 'kiddie' clothes from the store called delia*s but sadly around 2008ish, they moved out of the mall that was closest to me (the STL Galleria) because the friggin' Apple store bought out their space. I hate Apple. But that's another rant for another day. They moved to the Chesterfield Mall, and that's kind of a long drive for me...back then, as well as now. So I kinda stopped going there. And it's not really a "kid's only" store, I mean, it's more like late teens. And lately I have been shopping at Justice. Their clothing is wayyyy more for little kid's and girls than delia*s, though. So that means I always feel EXTRA creepy going in there. I try to buy online as much as possible to prevent giving off the "pedo vibes" when I walk into the store...but it's not always possible seeing as how their clothing doesn't always fit properly. Generally if I get a big enough size, I don't have to worry about it being too small/tight. But then I have to worry about awkward fits! Thankfully I JUST got my sewing machine back, after about 7 years without it....(I still used it off and on when I visited my parents in PA, but it wasn't always at my disposal) so that means if I need to alter clothing, I can! Rejoice!

But yeah so you may be wondering, why shop in the children's section/kiddie stores if you are, like me, in your early/mid/late twenties? (I'm going to be 25 on Dec 1st...guess that makes me mid-twenties now?) Here is a list of pros and cons:

Pros
- Really fucking cheap.
- Insanely cute designs you can't find in adult clothing stores/weird & awesome types of fabric & colors.

Cons
- Stuff doesn't always fit correctly if it all.
- You might feel like a pedophile if you aren't shopping online.

I bought this dress last night:

And this bolero:

Together?

Pretty legit!!!

How about you guys? Do you like to shop in the kiddie sections? xD

Instagram....and my UNIF addiction!

I have been using Instagram (smartphone app) quite a bit lately. Do any of you use it? If so, you should tell me your username so I can follow you! :)
My username is theflyingace so if you like my blog, feel free to add me on there. I post lots of foodporn, outfits, new swag, makeup, carporn and other randomness! :D

I'm also a huge fan of PicStitch. For instance, I just made this really nifty collage of the food we had last night:

Pretty cool huh? I like that you can adjust your photos with filters on there too, and adjust brightness/contract, etc. All on your phone! But it does eat up my shitty iPhone battery. I really need a new phone. I think I am going to get the new Galaxy S4! (Now, if only it would hurry up and be released for sale.) ;____;

I have been taking lots of outfit photos lately!! Unfortunately, I am still having difficulty in hanging up my photo backdrop in my photo room so I've been using my crappy bedroom mirror for photos. Oh well. I am too lazy to move my shoes too because I really have no where else to put them and if I keep them in their boxes I will forget about them and never wear them! So they're all out on display....meh. lol.
*I am so unorganized!* D:

But yeah I have some new outfits to share with you so click below if you wanna see 'em! :) A lot of them are with UNIF clothing. I am SUPER obsessed with all things UNIF lately. They're like my new favorite brand or something. I am suddenly returning to being a goth again or at least goth-inspired/punk/whatever! So weird how my style fluctuates so much, lol. But yeah... UNIF stands for "Ur Not In Fashion" haha... and they often feature crazy stuff on their garments like flames and crosses and usually inflammatory statements like FUCK! or whatever, haha. I guess I also have a curse-word obsession. O.o;;

Oh and on that note, I am obsessing over PASTEL GOTH lately. Have you seen it? Gosh, I am so addicted. I can spend hours looking at this girl's tumblr!!

Here's a preview:

One of my pastel goth attempts, hah. See what I mean about UNIF being crazy with the slogans and whatnot? Also I got the wig SUPER cheaper on eBay....much better price compared with the Gothic and Lolita wig store!!

Another attempt, lol!

See more below!

Nasty Gal skirt, top, bustier...

New UNIF dress. "The Kickflip Dress." So cute! 90s plaid grunge esque type of thing. I love it with leather boots and jacket. ^___^

UNIF "Turn or Burn" sweater. I actually posted a WTB for this on Instagram and a girl responded and sold me hers! How sweet of her! :)

Nasty Gal hat, skirt, and blouse! I am IN LOVE with this silly Tiger Skirt. ;)

It was 70+ degrees randomly last week so HAD to wear this, haha. Crazy Nasty Gal dress, got on sale for only $15!!

Nasty Gal dress also on sale. Their self-made items are always MUCH better than the other stuff they have. And it's all made in the USA to boot! (Los Angeles, in fact.) The tights are by Black Milk Clothing and they're made in Australia! Yay for nerdy LotR tights! ^___^

UNIF Rainbow Cake sweater from NastyGal....I sadly washed this and it made the colors bleed. I am stupid sometimes, seriously, ugh! Maybe I can re-dye it because it's super faded now. :(

NastyGal shirt. Love it!

UNIF poncho! SO glad I nabbed this while I still could. It's wiped out almost everywhere now! I even managed to get my size, so yay! :)

More BlackMilk! And Petals and Peacocks sweater. Skirt is by MinkPink. Stuff from Nasty Gal and Dolls Kill!

Also been trying to learn new nail techniques! I totally splurged on nail polish at Walgreens last week. Ugh! >__<;; Water Marble nails are SO hard... @___@;;
My nail/hair loot. The hair chalk is pretty dope. Here's what it looks like used:

Blue hair chalk! Good alternative for wanting to dye your hair blue or any wacky color prohibited by your work place, haha. It washes out with water!

WHEW! Lotsa pics! Well until next time...I hope you all have a lovely weekend. I should post more now that I found a way to easily put my Instagram photos on here and I don't even need to resize them to post! YAY! *solazy* and I also I fail at webdesign. My blog needs a new makeover so hard. >___<;;

"Ryu Collection" Clothing brand & Mori Girl Style

It has been a long time since I did a post about Mori Girl. I still wear this lovely style! But with lack of mirror and proper lighting it is hard to show off what I have been wearing lately. I need to find a stand up mirror that is wide so I can start showcasing my outfits or try to corner my boyfriend when I am about to go out so he can snap photos! :)

Anyway!

There is a brand which is near and dear to my heart... it's called Ryu. I discovered it a few years back on Modcloth and at some local boutiques in the area. But sadly the one boutique that carried their stuff the most went out of business or moved...and the other store in town carries Ryu from time to time but not as much as I'd like and the pieces they have aren't always my style. So I've looked to Modcloth for some Ryu pieces because their selection is great!

Ryu tends to use a lot of lace, crochet, light colors, ruffles, layers, chiffon, and other such elements to make up their lovely clothing. Whenever I think of them, I think "girly" and "foresty." Sometimes their dresses look delicate or reserved and sometimes they're very outgoing and wild!

I also own a scarf by Ryu, a jacket, and a sweater. They make skirts too as well as other accessories like headbands. Modcloth tends to carry mostly their dresses, though. Here is a link to all of the Ryu pieces they are selling at the moment:
http://www.modcloth.com/shop/search?keyword=ryu&commit=GO

If you catch something on sale, you can save a considerable amount of money too, just FYI, as Ryu tends to go for about $100 average for a dress! Expensive, I know. :( Most of my pieces I got on sale or it was just something I absolutely had to have.

Click below to see some of their stuff!

Sometimes when I look at Ryu stuff I think that even without layering it could look mori. I could see a forest princess wearing this stuff!

Want this one too but it seems like I might get mistaken for wearing a nightgown in public, ha. But looks so comfy!!

I really REALLY want this one!

I love this so much!!

I really like this ombre dress. It would be great for wearing to work! For those who want a little bit of mori girl at work but want something that looks a little less frumpy/layered. You could probably put a lace scarf over this with a jacket and some forest creature jewelry like squirrel necklace or deer antler ring, that would be cute and still work appropriate! :)
